Accommodation Providers Receive World Host Customer Service Awards

Local employers, and staff from accommodation providers ; Brown’s Country House, Number 10, Beulah Guest House ,Culerg B&B, Avarest House, Montalto House, Glenlearly Farmhouse, Carnside Guest House, Bellevue Country House, Dovetail Bed and Breakfast, Honeysuckle Cottage, Lisnagalt Lodge, Springwell Manor Health Farm, Village Lodge Cottage and Ulster Cottages took part in a world class customer service programme, and have achieved their World Host Customer Service certificates.

The certificates were presented by the Mayor of Coleraine, Alderman Maurice Bradley at a reception held in Cloonavin, Coleraine Borough Council.

The programme, delivered by Jean Haworth, World Host Trainer, was originally developed in Canada, widely perceived as a global leader for Customer Service, and has been brought to Northern Ireland by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board in partnership with the sector skills council, People 1st, to help raise service quality to international standards.

Jean Haworth said “Customer Service is a vital part of the visitor experience and this is an excellent opportunity for businesses to develop their skills to enable them to deliver world class service excellence”.

Over the next 3 years Northern Ireland will host an impressive series of global events, and the launch of many new amazing visitor attractions. Visitors will come to visit Titanic Belfast and the Causeway Visitor centre and experience events such as the Irish Open Portrush 2012, the Derry-Londonderry City of Culture celebrations and the World Fire and Police games in 2013.

These events will put Northern Ireland in the spotlight. They will present a unique opportunity for businesses to showcase the best of Northern Ireland and to build repeat business by providing a warm welcome and impeccable customer service.

For businesses in the tourism, hospitality, leisure and passenger sectors, with less than 250 employees, the training programme is 90% funded by the Department of Employment and Learning for participants who have direct engagement with visitors.
